Camp Hastings Event Details
2011

This event is part of the Little Log Village Show a few miles south of Hastings, Minnesota.

Dates: July 29 - 31, 2011
Time: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM daily
Directions: Detailed directions to the site are here.
Site map: Detailed site map. Camp Hastings is in the upper right of the map near building #36, Nininger Town Hall. Look for the green Quonset hut.
Cost: Cost is free if you register by July 22, 2011. Otherwise it's $20 for a weekend pass. We have to get a list of participants in to the site owners a week in advance.

Registration: It's not necessary to register, but it's recommended as the site owners do keep a list of vendors and exhibitors and issue wrist bands for them. If you're not on the list it's possible they may ask you to buy admission. Registration closes July 22, 2011.

Registration form

Food:There are many food vendors available on site and restaurants in nearby towns. In addition, on Saturday and Sunday Ross from the 105th will make an authentic B ration for those who are interested. Cost is $5.00 per day and you must sign up in advance so he knows how much food to make. You can sign up via the registration form above.

Saturday Menu:

Sunday Menu:

Display space: There's ample room on site for tents and outdoor vehicle displays. We also have two town halls and a Quonset hut for indoor display space. Electricity is available in the town halls and the hut is being wired, but may not be ready by show time. Trenches can be prepared beforehand with a back hoe if you let me know on your registration form. Trenches do not have to be filled in when you leave. Let me know if you would like indoor display space as it is limited.

Public Battle: There will be a public battle on on Saturday and Sunday, assuming we can get enough people to participate. The battle will be over the spiral bridge with the Germans defending a fixed position and the Americans attacking in a double envelopment.

Overnight facilities: Camping is permitted on the grounds and authentic bunk beds in the buildings. Camp sites with electricity are avaiable, but tend to sell out from year to year. You can get on the waiting list here as well as get a list of area hotels.

Attendance: The event attracts thousands of people each year. This year we expect the numbers will be up substantially as the site owner recently purchased a 1950s era drive-in restaruant that's much beloved by the public. The restaurant will be ready in time for the event and is expected to pull in a lot of new people to the Little Log Village show. And the restaurant is right across the street from our encampment.
